Por Legal is operated by Newhope Immigrant, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in City of Industry, California. We primarily serve low-income and indigent clients, providing immigration legal services to new immigrants and disadvantaged groups and protecting their legitimate rights and interests.
Most of the people we serve are Chinese-speaking, and many face language barriers or limited formal education. We explain each step in plain language, in Chinese or English, so that clients can understand and follow their own cases.

What we do
Our work focuses on three areas:
Case status tracking
We help clients follow the status of their cases with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), and explain what each update means.
Language access
Chinese-language support for clients facing language barriers, so that language or education is not an obstacle to understanding their own case.
